The popular Churchdown (N.Glos) Good Afternoon Choir will present their first concert at Churchdown Community Centre on Saturday evening July 29 at 7.00pm (doors open 6.30pm).
The choir is led by Laurie Jones and over 40 enthusiastic members are busy preparing their programme for the concert which will support Jenson’s Journey, a charity chosen by the members of the choir.
The Good Afternoon Choirs were started by Bath-based Grenville Jones 13 years ago and there are now 23 across the South West of England with over 900 members ‘Singing in the Afternoon’.
There are no auditions to join and members of the Churchdown Good Afternoon Choir come from in and around the area, they meet every Tuesday afternoon from 12.30pm-2.30pm at Churchdown Community Centre. Everyone is welcome to come along and meet Laurie and the members of the choir.
The special guest for the concert is tenor Toby Brewer. Toby began his professional career in his hometown of Bristol at 12 years of age as part of the Choir in "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Bristol Hippodrome with Bill Kenwright's UK Tour Company. Ever since, he has been performing in holiday parks, clubs, pubs, weddings, events and theatre productions.
Tickets priced £8 are on sale from gac.ticketlight.co.uk or by calling 0844 888 9991 – they will also be available on the door on the night of the concert (cash only).
