The North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Thursday afternoon at St John's Haydon Wick from 1.00-3.00pm.
Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs is delighted that Sarah Summers is the leader of the North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir.
Sarah Summers is a Choir Leader and Vocal Health First Aider based in Swindon. With a BA(Hons) in Music and Education and an MA in Vocal Pedagogy, she works with adults to ensure healthy singing and build confidence. Sarah has worked as an accompanist and Musical Director on local amateur theatre projects, as well as teaching piano in schools and to private students. Whilst singing in choirs has always featured throughout Sarah's musical education, it is the discovery of community choirs, and an emphasis on fun and wellbeing, that motivated her to start work as a Choir Leader. She works with several choirs in Swindon, including the Great Western Hospital's NHS Choir and Carers' Voices, which enjoy a similar wellbeing ethos to that of GAC.
A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way Sarah and the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!
Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.
If you have any questions about the Choir please contact Tracey or Jody at Grenville's office in Westfield/Midsomer Norton via e-mail [email protected] or tel 01761 472468.
