The Thornbury Good Afternoon Choir have chosen to support

The Thornbury Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Thursday afternoon at Thornbury United Reformed Church from 1.00-3.00pm.
Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs is delighted that Sian Walters is the leader of the Thornbury Good Afternoon Choir.
Sian graduated in singing, piano and percussion at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has been teaching at Tockington Manor School as a Visiting Music Teacher in Singing and Piano since 1998. She has her own private music business called High C's Music Services which she also set up in 1998. Her successes include pupils gaining Music scholarships into private secondary schools, and the famous performing arts sixth form college Hurtwood House, also various music colleges and universities, pupils also gaining places in the prestigious National Youth Choir of Great Britain. Sian has also Musically Directed Youth Drama Groups in the locality, appeared as guest soloist with mixed and male voice choirs, adjudicated in local festivals and directed Youth and Adult Choirs which has gained her over 20 years experience.
A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way Sian and the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!
Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.

Thornbury URC Fundraising Event
Thornbury GAC were invited to perform at Thornbury URC in May 2026 as part of their fundraising event along with Triple Uke .... Sian tells us a fantastic time was had by all and the Ukrainian ladies and children looked lovely in their national dress and sang and played so beautifully.
Children's Hospice South West - Fundraising 2025
Thornbury GAC handed over their fundraising cheque to Children's Hospice South West for funds raised through 2025.

A fantastic fun time was had by all at the Thornbury GAC singalong, and the food was plentiful and Yummy.
Sian and Charmaine even had a lovely surprise at the very end of the rehearsal... "Thank you to Andy and Choir it was BRILLIANT!" says Sian.

Thornbury GAC hosted a concert with Dodington Parish Band on Saturday at St Mary’s, Thornbury, with a wonderful variety of music and a great time was had by all.

Thornbury Good Afternoon Choir had a lovely evening as the special guests of Filton Concert Brass at their Sunset Serenade Concert in St Andrew's Church, Filton.

November 2024 - Heroes Remembered Concert
Thornbury Good Afternoon Choir members joined Yate and Chipping Sodbury Good Afternoon Choir for a Remembrance Sunday concert at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall to make an impressive 80 strong choir - conducted by Sian Walters. The concert was hosted by the excellent Filton Brass Band and the Town Hall was packed.
