Yate & Chipping Sodbury GAC had a busy Christmas 2022 - here are a few pictures...
The Yate & Chipping Sodbury Good Afternoon Choir meet every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm - 4pm (during term time) at St Mary’s Church, Church Road, Yate, BS37 5BG.

Sian Walters, pictured leads the Yate & Chipping Sodbury Good Afternoon Choir and Grenville Jones is the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs. Sian is joined by Carolyn Dutton who is the choir accompanist.
Sian graduated in singing, piano and percussion at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has been teaching at Tockington Manor School as a Visiting Music Teacher in Singing and Piano since 1998. She has her own private music business called High C's Music Services which she also set up in 1998. Her successes include pupils gaining Music scholarships into private secondary schools, and the famous performing arts sixth form college Hurtwood House, also various music colleges and universities, pupils also gaining places in the prestigious National Youth Choir of Great Britain. Sian has also Musically Directed Youth Drama Groups in the locality, appeared as guest soloist with mixed and male voice choirs, adjudicated in local festivals and directed Youth and Adult Choirs which has gained her over 20 years experience.
There are no auditions and everyone is welcome to attend the choir. Many of the people in the Good Afternoon Choirs have never sung in a choir before, however there are now over 1,000 people singing in the Afternoons! There is NO charge for attending the first rehearsal and membership forms are always available. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £50 per term - this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a members form should you wish to join the choir - your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.
The Yate & Chipping Sodbury Good Afternoon Choir enjoy all sorts of music – from folk songs to choral favourites. If you have any questions about the Choir please contact Nikki at Grenville's office in Westfield/Midsomer Norton for any information, by calling 01761 472468 or emailing gac@grenvillemusic.co.uk – or just come along to our first free session with a friend of course.

April 2022 - Ann Dickson, one of the choir members sent us the above pictures showing some of the members having a social lunch together and also of members of the choir who sang at a health and well-being day in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall organised by the local Rotary Club.
“I’m so fortunate to be in such a lovely fun and friendly choir, led of course by our wonderful Sian’ Ann told us. |
On Saturday 30 April, 2022 - Yate GAC welcomed the Apollo Wind Band for a fundraising concert at St Mary's. A great night was had by all. Pictured above are the choir with the Wind Band.
