The West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Friday afternoon at Holt Village Hall from 1.30-3.30pm.
Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs, is delighted that Matt Finch is the leader of the West Wiltshire Good Afternoon Choir.
Matt runs 4 popular Good Afternoon Community Choirs every week and loves the fun of singing together and making amazing music during the afternoons. Matt lives in Bath where he is well-known as Musical Director of the Bath Light Operatic Group, you may well have attended one of their wonderful shows at the Bath Theatre Royal in years past. All Good Afternoon Choir members enjoy singing Matt's very special arrangements, especially at the Big Sings when all the Good Afternoon Choirs join together to sing in one venue.
A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way Matt and the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!
Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.

Christmas Singalong - December 2025
West Wilts had great fun at their Christmas singalong on the last day of term before their Christmas break: Silent Night to "candlelight" plus 3 kings and 3 queens who sang solo!

Christmas Concert - December 2025
West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir held a wonderful concert with the lovely children of Holt VC Primary School at St Katharine's Church in the run up to Christmas. A lovely time was had by all and the concert raised over £300 for Parkinson's UK.
Holt United Reform Church Fundraiser Concert - November 2025
West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir were very happy to support Holt United Reformed Church as one of their guest performers at a fundraiser concert. On a chilly night, the fact that mulled wine was served was appreciated by all!
Final session before summer break 2025
West Wilts GAC ventured out to entertain the people of Holt by the Glove Factory Lake for their last rehearsal before the summer break. Hear them singing "Touch the Wind" below ...
Concert at Holy Trinity Church, Trowbridge March 2025
On Friday 14th March West Wilts GAC joined forces with Chippenham & Calne GAC to welcome visiting Cornish choir Local Vocalz for a concert at the very lovely Holy Trinity Church, Trowbridge.
Christmas Concert - December 2024
West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir held their first Christmas concert at St Katherine's Church, Holt, on Friday 6th December. They were delighted to be joined by children from Holt VC Primary School and particularly enjoyed the songs which they sang together: "Forever Young" and "My Christmas Wish".
Christmas Tree Festival at Holt URC - December 2024
West Wiltshire Good Afternoon Choir Christmas Tree entry, which four ladies from the choir - Marilyn, Jean, Helen and Gaynor - decorated for the festival held at the United Reformed Church in Holt on 13-15 December. Didn't they do a fantastic job?
Concert at Neeld Community & Arts Centre - November 2024
West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir joined forces with Chippenham & Calne Good Afternoon Choir for a special concert at the Neeld Community & Arts Centre in Chippenham. The audience and choirs were treated to a lively singalong lead by popular Good Afternoon Choir leader, Matt Finch.
Cascade Concert - November 2024
West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir were invited to take part in a Remembrance Day concert in aid of the British Legion / Help the Heroes at St Katharine's Church, Holt on 3rd November 2024. This incredibly moving concert also featured local actors and the Warminster Military Wives Choir. This was West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir's first public performance and they did a fantastic job!

First Performance - May 2024
West Wilts GAC held an Open Rehearsal with tea and cake at the end of May 2024 where they performed - for the first time - to an enthusiastic audience of supporters.
