The Mid Devon Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Monday afternoon at Crediton Congregational Church from 12.45-2.45pm.
Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs is delighted that Luke Tayler is the leader of the Mid Devon Good Afternoon Choir.
A lifelong mid-Devonian, Luke was born in Exeter and served as head chorister at the choir of Bramdean School for many years before further education at Wells Cathedral School, the Royal Northern College of Music and finally the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Although focusing upon the oboe while studying in Manchester and Cardiff respectively, Luke continued to combine a love of both singing and orchestral playing. He is a previous member of the Wellensian Consort (BBC Choir of the Year 2010), and among other engagements has performed across the country at the City of Derry International Choir Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, BBC Proms, and with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Welsh National Opera. More recently he widely appears in concerts, shows and services all over Devon. Away from music, Luke is a firm student of history and geopolitics, and is often seen around Crediton with his Jack Russell Terrier, Bernadotte.
A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way Luke and the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!
Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £63 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.

Christmas Concert 2023
The Mid Devon Good Afternoon Choir had a wonderful Christmas concert with special guests the children of Hayward's Primary School at Crediton Congregational Church in December 2023.

We had a wonderful time singing with the City of Bath Male Voice Choir, as you can see from the pictures above. The Church was packed and raised over £900 for Blue Skye Thinking charity. What a terrific night!
