Hello - We are the Good Afternoon Choirs – FUN Community Choirs that sing in the AFTERNOONS across the West Country! As you can see from the pictures on this website, we enjoy making music and performing at concerts and raising money for many local organisations and charities. There are NO AUDITIONS and previous singing experience is not important – if you enjoy singing in the car, or at home …? Why not come along and find out what singing in an afternoon choir is like - bring a friend - everyone welcome! There is no charge for your first “meet us” rehearsal! Our picture above was taken in September and shows the Taunton GAC performing with special guest, saxophonist Tobias Eddy. The conductor is Chris Grabham.
Our picture below shows the South Gloucestershire GAC at Kingswood in front of a packed church supporting Alzheimer’s U.K. Other recent concerts were Churchdown GAC who gave their first ever concert with special guest Toby Brewer. They raised an amazing £810 for Jenson's Journey. Bristol GAC and guests the Bristol Military Wives Choir raised a superb £580 for their chosen charity, Gympanzees. Our Wells GAC performed with the Cheddar Male Choir also raising a magnificent £532 for the PAPYRUS charity. North Somerset GAC, with guests Pill Festival Band, raised £344 for the Children's Air Ambulance and our Bath GAC raised £400 to enable a new music therapy group for Parkinson's sufferers living in the City - their guests were the talented Curtain Up Theatre School. Our Taunton GAC raised £441 Arc Inspiring Lives at a concert with the Taunton Military Wives Choir. Yate & Chipping Sodbury GAC raised £753 for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, while Cirencester & Stroud GAC raised £212 for The Church Project. Devizes GAC have so far raised £500 for the Sidmouth Street Club and the Malmesbury GAC raised £210 for their local Alzheimer's Support 'Music for the Mind' project. The Chippenham & Calne GAC performed at the Chippenham Folk Festival recently, while the Norton Radstock GAC have raised £339 for Children's Hospice South West. All the benefitting charities or local groups are chosen by the members of the choirs.
Across the West of England the 24 Good Afternoon Choirs have already raised £14,415 for many local charities. Choir Founder Grenville Jones said: “Last year our total was over £22,000 and with the fantastic support of choirs like the Bristol members and with Christmas concerts ahead, I am hoping we can reach £24,000 by the end of the year.” There are many more concerts in the months ahead and full details can always be found on our concerts page
No Auditions - Come Along and Meet Us
The Good Afternoon Choirs are a community project led by Bath music man Grenville Jones - www.grenvillejones.biz where the accent is on fun, social, singing for people who have afternoons free! You do not have to worry about travelling to rehearsal in the dark, you will be home for the 6 o'clock news! The music varies from unison folk songs through to popular and well loved pieces in harmony. All our choirs offer a very warm welcome to existing and NEW members and if you are reading this after seeing us on Facebook or other media channels, you can find out more about the choir nearest you below. You do not have to wait or join any of our choirs at the start of a new term, simply come along to ANY rehearsal - your first is always FREE and to find out more A WARM WELCOME AWAITS!

The conductor is the multi-talented Jessie Thompson and rehearsals will run from 1pm-3pm each Wednesday afternoon. Don't forget, your first visit is always free of charge whenever that might be.

Here's your weekly guide to a 'Good Afternoon' of singing...
Reading music and previous choir experience is simply not important. Good Afternoon Choirs are all about community singing and they perform at concerts and enjoy music making and, making new friends. Membership is a termly fee to include music and all this will be explained on the member’s form when you come along to find out for yourself about the Choir in your area.

A FANTASTIC DAY AT BATH ABBEY!
AN AMAZING £1,121 RAISED FOR THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION
Hundreds of members from across our Good Afternoon Choirs descended on Bath Abbey on Thursday November 10th 2022 for an Afternoon Workshop led by Matt Finch (pictured above), Laurie Jones and Grenville Jones. The workshop was followed by a MASSED GAC performance based on the afternoon workshop in an EVENING CONCERT. Guests included, the celebrated City of Bath Male Choir, the Bath Welcome Chorus and the Norland Nannies and the evening concert raised a wonderful £1,121 for the Royal British Legion.
