The Sidmouth Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Wednesday afternoon at Old School Building, All Saints Sidmouth from 1.00-3.00pm.
Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs is delighted that Maria Thorne is the leader of the Sidmouth Good Afternoon Choir.
Maria has always loved making music. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, she's been in many ensembles, from orchestras and professional choirs to contemporary folk and rock bands. Through her years of experience directing community choirs, she's seen their benefits in action. She relishes helping people find fun, friendship and happiness through song.
A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way Maria and the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!
Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.

Sidmouth Hospital - February 2026
Sidmouth GAC were warmly welcomed at Sidmouth Hospital where they had been invited to sing in the day room to cheer up the inpatients. Being February the theme, of course, was love 🥰

What a lovely time the Sidmouth GAC had entertaining at the Sid Valley Memory Cafe in the run up to Christmas and spreading Festive cheer!

Sid Valley Memory Cafe - June 2025
Sidmouth Good Afternoon Choir had a lovely time entertaining an audience of around 40 people at the Sid Valley Memory Cafe in July 2025 and encouraging everyone to join in and clap along. This was their debut performance and they did so well that they've been invited back soon!
