The Churchdown community Good Afternoon Choir welcomes a new leader when they start back after their Summer break on Tuesday September 3 at Churchdown Community Centre.
Philippa Smith takes over from Laurie Jones who has stood down since starting and leading the choir to pursue his school music teaching career.
Philippa studied Performance Arts, including Musical Theatre. Over the years she has explored and taught various genres including Gospel and classical. Throughout her career she has worked as a theatre director, producer, vocal coach and performer.
Although the majority of her work has been based in the UK, her work has taken her all over the world including Maylasia and Singapore. Recently she has spent a large amount of time teaching singing to individuals, groups and choirs.
“There are no auditions to join the Churchdown Good Afternoon Choir and new prospective members are always welcome to go along to meet Philippa and the Choir any Tuesday from 12.30pm-2.30pm in Churchdown Community Centre.” Said choir founder Grenville Jones.
