The Bodmin Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Tuesday afternoon at St Petroc's Parish Centre (opposite St Petroc's Church) from 2.00-4.00pm.
Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs is delighted that Martin Palmer is the leader of the Bodmin Good Afternoon Choir. Martin studied the organ, cello, conducting and composing at London’s Royal Academy of Music whilst singing with the London Philharmonic Choir. For the subsequent two decades he taught in leading London schools, whilst organizing and conducting as many choral and orchestral concerts as possible. For the past 19 years, he has served as Director of Music at Truro School where he built up one of the biggest and busiest departments in the South West, and alongside this, he directed Truro Choral Society and Truro Symphony Orchestra. He now enjoys working with Helston Chamber Choir, Truro Chamber Choir, and Falmouth Good Afternoon Choir. He has commissioned and conducted many new works and he enjoys eating Maltesers in large quantities!
A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way Martin and the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!
Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.
If you have any questions about the Choir please contact Tracey or Karin at Grenville's office in Westfield/Midsomer Norton via e-mail [email protected] or tel 01761 472468.
